Ola from Brazil! I made it to Sao Paulo. Once I got to my apartment, I dropped my suitcase and went straight to class. That definitely wasn’t a good idea. I was practicing calligraphy with black ink and a pen all night in class, only to realize later that I had a fever! Hopefully that was the reason why my letters came out like chicken scratch. Anyway, no traveling and going to class on the same day, got it.
So the other day I was looking at the most visited posts from Pretty Talk, and the one about Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, was the winner. I’m not sure if it’s the world cup happening next year or its exuberant beachers, but to go along with that post, I decided to make another one from when I went to Rio.
If you ever go, I recommend visiting Parque Lage. Have you ever seen that Snoop Dog videoclip of the song ‘Beautiful’? Yep, that is where they filmed it.
Even though Parque Lage looked as if I was going into a secret temple, the place is currently a space open for artists, designers, curators and everybody in the industry to share art and culture with the public.
Below is one of the exhibitions going on at the time with cacti and paintings floating in the water.
Besides the space inside, artists can exhibit their work out in the park that surrounds the building. My advice is: spend a lot of time in this mini forest, all of the cool small wooden houses, bridges and sculptures will leave you feeling as if you left earth and came back as a gnome.
As you can see, Rio definitely isn’t only about sun, beaches and hot bods. On this rainy day, Parque Lage was my getaway away from all the blue of the ocean into a different century.

Lovely photos, and it’s always interesting to gain a different perspective of a beautiful destination.
Oh my goodness it looks like I missed a trick with the Parque Lage! It was between that and Sugarloaf though, in fairness to me. I’m just going to have to go to Rio again to right the wrongs then!
Lovely photos – as usual, Pati!
